What office supplies are really for – pet furniture eternal joy!

Making the most of boring office supplies is imperative for a successful and fulfilling life. Our rabbit, Benjamin (pictured here in his custom made chair), is quite fond of repurposed office supplies.

Take stock of what is around you. Does your office contain wire trays for storing paper? If so, in this digital age, the paper tray must be repurposed immediately into something glorious. Do you have random drawers full of tie wraps? A tie wrap in a drawer is a dream wasted. The land of custom critter furniture is calling you. It is time to answer.

Proceed with caution. Animals try to gnaw and eat anything and everything. Benjamin gets access to furniture like this while under observation in open play areas to avoid potential ingestion of furniture parts. We avoid adding custom made items to his primary penthouse residence during periods of solitary bunny contemplations.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

  1. tie wraps
  2. milk crate
  3. desk paper tray
  4. needle and thick thread or yarn
  5. foam (alert: highly flammable – avoid using near copious amounts of open flame and people with hot tempers)
  6. fabric
  7. hot little wand thingy that melts plastic, can’t remember what it is called but it is pictured below, use it outside or open the windows to avoid toxic fumes

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • tie wrap one side of the desk paper tray to the top of the milk crate
  • cut a hole in the front of the milk crate with the hot little wand thingy or anything capable of cutting plastic
  • wrap the hole thing in foam
  • anchor the foam to the milk crate in many spots with thick thread or yarn
  • wrap the hole thing in fabric
  • anchor the fabric to the foam and milk crate in many spots with thick thread or yard

Depending on your crafting level, shouting of obscenities while working on frustrating projects, current workload, and access to a steady stream of electricity will all play a part in the timeline of the completion of this project. Avoid giving up, for the rewards will be plenty. Hop to it!
