Every spring I go through old boxes. Year after year, digging through the past of my clan, I uncover delightful treasures. This year I focused on a box of writings and photographs from 1890 to 1915. One item, in particular, is a handwritten “Guide to Whist”.
Whist (a direct forerunner of Bridge) is an old card game and, like most, sets the scene for any memorable moment with friends.
I hope you will ignore technology for a bit. Escape to a perfect spot under a tree and learn how to play this old game. Try to figure it out from this vintage handwritten treasure, digitized in PDF format.
