Glow-in-the-dark grout is spectacular. The soft glow eliminates the need for harsh lighting late at night when wandering about for a glass of water or prank calling telemarketers and it provides a unique artwork backdrop after dark.
This special product is activated daily by exposure to sunlight or strong artificial light during the day. The photoluminescent additive, often strontium aluminate, absorbs this energy and releases it as a glow when darkness falls.

The photos accompanying this article demonstrate the outstanding tile and grout work recently completed by contractors we know in North Carolina. The workers had no experience with glow-in-the-dark grout (it comes in the form of a powder additive to be mixed into the grout), and they still completed the job in glowing fashion with no delay. We made sure they were able to view the job site at night so they could see how amazing their work turned out.
The addition of the glow-in-the-dark powder (the powder is typically translucent or white) for this project did not alter the original color of the grout for this project so the coloring is outstanding during the day and the glow at night is beautiful.
Don’t fear the glow. Buy a glow-in-the-dark additive today from your local hardware store and jazz up your midnight routine with something glow-tastic.
